A regional juried exhibition hosted by MH Art Gallery asks artists to push themselves beyond their comfort zone by experimenting with a new medium or technique, working larger or smaller than usual or taking a new approach to color. It could also include exploration of a new, atypical subject matter for the artist. Aim to surprise yourself and collectors! Note: Maximum size is 30" framed.

Eligible Work
Original 2-D work (paintings, drawings, pastel, collage, mixed media, monotypes, etchings, etc.) created within the last three years solely by the artist. Artwork must be no longer than 30" on either side including frame. All work must be framed, or gallery wrapped (finished sides), wired and ready to hang. No sawtooth hangers will be accepted. All accepted work must be delivered in person; no shipments accepted.

Application Process
A $20 entry fee entitles artists to enter up to 2 pieces of work.
Photos of artwork must be submitted with the application. Before uploading images be sure they are smaller than 4 MB, and at least 1920 pixels on both dimensions at 72 dpi. Images must be in JPEG format and may be resized at https://imageresizer.com. If resizing, use 1920 on the shortest dimension.
Applicants will be asked to include a statement with each artwork submission detailing the breakthrough.
Applicants automatically consent to their artwork being used in promotional materials. Accepted artists will be notified by September 20, 2024, via email. Check your spam folders for emails from info@mariettaartalive.com. Artists are responsible for any loss or damage to their work during this show. Artists are responsible for the drop-off and pick up of work.

Awards - $1,050
Two $300 Juror's Choice Awards and two $150 Honorable Mention Awards will be presented on October 18, 2024. One $150 People's Choice Award will be announced on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at 1pm by MH Art Gallery staff. The public may vote on their favorite artwork up until noon on that date.
Juror of Acceptance and Awards: Lisa HB Clemens
Lisa HB Clemens ran Bedenbaugh Design Inc, an art and design business in Elizabethtown, PA for 32 years. She established a gallery in 2000 initially in partnership with Lancaster Galleries as Lancaster Galleries West, and resumed sole proprietorship as Lynden Gallery in 2003. She served as Art Director for the Lancaster Arts Hotel Gallery from 2005 to 2019 and has 20 plus years of experience curating and promoting the fine arts in central Pennsylvania. Echoes of her gallery days live on in her blog “eatwellandbuymoreart,” and in the thoughtfully curated artwork installed throughout the Arts Hotel. She currently works as an Associate Principal, Senior Interior Designer with Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects in York, PA and Baltimore, MD having completed an MS Interior Architecture + Design at Drexel University in 2013. She strives daily to “live by design.”
Gallery Sales & Commission
Artwork must be for sale; 30% of all sales will benefit Rivertownes PA USA (Marietta Art Alive) 501c3. Sales tax will be collected and paid by Rivertownes PA USA..
Drop Off/Pick Up Dates
Accepted work must be dropped off on September 28 or 29 from 11am – 3pm, at the MH Art Gallery, 42 W. Market Street, Marietta, PA.
Unsold work must be picked up on December 7 or 8 from 11am - 3pm at same location.
